Humans Can Build Awareness

By David M. Petersen

Version 2

Outline:

There are realy two ways for the human race to build up awareness; one is to spot it in children and nurture it; and the other is to train ourselves to be more aware

Plato's cave allegory is really the go to example for awareness growing

Unfortunately, I think the capacity for building awareness could be baked in or not; ie, the people above "the awareness rift" as discussed can do it but the ones below may not be able to. (you'd have to really want to and they don't) although I'd like for this to be proved wrong

It follows that learning and adhering to a code of honor can be taught to a lot of kids

The more sensitive aware kids will get it first

Also we should find the sensitive kids and help them deal with the stupid a******'s round them

Overly sensitive aware kids must fight through the layer of narcissistic conformity that covers this planet. Our society may perceive these kids as weak, but in reality they are potentially massive because of their natural awareness. However, I'll bet you a million bucks they tend to get no help (major cause of suicide?)

Teaching them how to reach the "important forms" is where the power is, man

It's not that they're not strong enough to survive; the fact is really that NO ONE is strong enough to survive; it's a web of Life; everybody needs everybody else no one can make it alone

Also, strength is learned. If your good at learning you can be very very strong, it just takes discipline

However, becoming more aware as an adult is very difficult

If you have the capacity it will be forced on you in most cases but you can also guide it yourself

To begin, do you have a strong voice in your head telling you not to do the s*** you shouldn't do? If not you can make one by building up your awareness

So to explain, a while back I slipped into OCD when I got very over-tired; now I'm better than ever!

Consequently, this system is based heavily on one Dr. Jeffrey Shwartz' work on OCD (The book BrainLock)

The build awareness system that I am proposing would work as follows:

Same system as his, with minor modifications (a little more active), just used to counter internal dishonor relative to a code of honor Instead of just egodistonic ideas

As one can learn in the book, the brain has a quality they are calling neuroplasticity. Therefore because of neuroplasticity, theoretically you can design your own internal conscious structure to handle wider complexity, which results in higher awareness, as well as having more empathy (even if its only cognitive empathy)

So, the system incorporates this sequence:

Fight (counter attack) the dishonerable idea, then revalue the idea, or in other words label the idea as egodistonic, then refocus your mind (the hardest part)

I find the use of an "inner sword and shield" works on ideas you really hate, but in general I just generate an image that beats it up, kills it, dominates it or neutralizes it; and sometimes it's a sword; or just block the idea (inner shield)

When you start out it is difficult, but it becomes easier and easier to the point where it reaches "second nature"

So essentially you are overriding egodistonic evil or dishonorable ideas or mental images and then reaching up to the important forms

To demonstrate this techique, try to stop that annoying song in your head. Block it and refocus your mind over and over

We could have people who've built up their awareness in "martial arts fashion!"

Using this system to fight evil and dishonor within yourself can be seen as building what Nietzsche called "Master Morality" in individuals

when you fight evil in your own head (we all have it,) fighting evil outside your head becomes also possible

By the way I wish I could buy Dr. Shwartz a yacht or something
